All drivers of vehicles carrying dangerous goods, in scope of the ADR provisions, must attend a Department for Transport approved training course in order to be legally qualified to transport and/or move such loads. They are necessary because law makes these requirements part of the dangerous goods industry responsibility, a regulatory requirement, to help keep the transportation of dangerous goods safe.
CPC
Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is a required qualification for professional drivers (lorries, buses, mini-buses)
New drivers obtain their Driver CPC by passing a series of initial qualification tests – theory and practical. This must then be followed by 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years if they want to keep their Driver CPC after that period.
However:
-lorry (LGV) drivers who acquired their licence (C, C1, C+E and C1+E) before 10 September 2009
-bus & PCV drivers who obtained their licence (D, D1, D+E and D1+E) before 10 September 2008
do NOT need to take any tests, just 35 hours (as mentioned above) at our center and that’s it. The minimum length of a training course is 7 hours, so usually takes 5 days, although it can be done quicker. Once the schooling is done, you’ll receive DQC (Driver Qualification Card)
